Survivor Benefit

Qualifying condition
Where a member dies while in services with at least 120 months contributing period;
Mode of granting survivors’ benefit
i) Is granted to the deceased member’s dependants:-
Wife or husband; children below the age of 18 years; or deceased member’s parents who were wholly or substantially dependent on the deceased;
ii) Is granted in the same way as monthly old-age- pension for 36 months;
iii) If the beneficiary is the wife, the benefit stops if she re-marries within 36 months.
iv) If the beneficiary is the husband, he must prove to the Board of Trustees that he was wholly or substantially dependent on his spouse;
v) Legal document to prove dependence if the dependants are parents;

Documents required
• Benefit Claim form duly filled by the employer; (See Page 25)
• Certified copies of birth certificates if dependants are children;
• Certified copy of marriage certificate if the dependant is wife or husband;
• Two passport-size photographs of the member;
• Bank details- Name and Account, for remitting survivors’ benefit Pension.
