Investing Members’ contributions is among the core four functions of the Fund. Investment activities of the Fund are governed by the:-

  • Investment Policy, issued by the Board of Trustees,
  • Treasury Management Policy issued by the Board of Trustees,
  • Social Security Schemes (Investment Guidelines), 2015 issued by the Bank of Tanzania in Collaboration with the Social Security Regulatory Authority, and
  • Financial Regulations of the Fund

Guiding Principles of PPF’s Investments

In order to ensure that members contributions are invested in a prudent manner, the Board of Trustees and Management of the Fund adhered to the following  basic guiding principles;-

  • Liquidity:  a certain proportion of its investment is maintained into the outlets which are sufficiently convertible to cash for the purpose of meeting short term financial obligations.
  • Yield: Members contributions are invested in the high yielding investments and in-line with the guidelines/ benchmarks provided by the Regulator.
  • Safety: Members contributions are invested in the portfolios, which guarantee security of the invested funds.
  • Diversification: investments are diversified in order to spread the risks.
  • Social, environmental and economic utility: investment decisions also take into considerations the social, environmental and economic factors.

Adherence to the above mentioned guiding principles ensures that the Members’ contributions are prudently invested, while maintaining optimum liquidity levels to meet current financial obligations. These principles also ensure capital preservation, growth of the Fund and the balanced portfolio to avoid strains in times of unforeseen contingencies.
